How are you planning to spend the time before the 2003 World Championships
in Hamilton, Ontario? Why not warm up for the Canadian version by visiting
Hamilton Bermuda? If you are like dozens of other riders from the last few
years you’ll choose to be in Bermuda for the CD&P Bermuda Grand Prix,
regardless of where the Worlds are being held.
Plans are well underway for the 2003 installment of this race which is to be
held September 18, 19 20 and 21 in Bermuda. The format this year will
include the Classic Crit on Thursday night which draws a large audience of
both locals and tourists. The rest of the race schedule includes a time
trial on Friday, the road race on Saturday and the concluding criterium on
Sunday morning. The purse for the event will be in excess of $12,000 in
addition to which there will be primes in the Classic Crit.
Social events for the race will include a sign-in/welcome reception and
buffet on Wednesday evening and the awards dinner Sunday night. Last year
this was a fantastic evening on the beach and we are working on all aspects
One of the mainstays of the GP has been the superb host housing provided by
local riders and friends. This will again be made available to riders
participating in the Elite field on a first come – first serve basis.
Additionally, elite teams will be afforded travel subsidies by applying to
the event director. Discounted travel arrangements can be made through
Bermuda Sports Marketing by referencing this event.
