ANNOUNCING the 2005 NEBRA Ranking System

The New England Bicycle Racing Association (NEBRA) is proud to announce the creation of the NEBRA Ranking System. This New England based ranking will recognize and reflect this region’s racing. The basis for this ranking starts with having races that are willing to participate in the ranking system by agreeing to meet certain standards established by NEBRA.
The criteria for races to be included New England Bicycle Racing Association Ranking System are as follows:
i. provision of separate pre-registration and day of registration lines.
ii. An information board that shows start times, rest room locations, start/finish locations, number placement, prize payout location, and junior rollout location.
iii. Toilet facilities near the start line.
iv. Provision of a finish line camera and full results. No camera is required at time trials.
v. Sending results to NEBRA and USAC.
vi. Posting results 15 minutes after race completion and paying out prizes within 1/2 hour after results are finalized unless other methods are stated in the race flyer.
vii. Provision of a pit or follow vehicle for all categories.
viii. Provision of double numbers for Road Races.
ix. Holding junior rollout prior to the start of the junior race.
x. Posting accurate start times on the race flyer. Listing the first race of the day, and stating all others follow is not acceptable.

Points will be awarded to the top 20 finishers. The points will be: 100, 90, 80, 75, 70, 65, 60, 55, 50, 45, 40, 35, 30, 25, 20, 15, 14, 13, 12, 11.
C.The categories will be as follows:

Men: P-1-2, 3, 4,35+, 45+, 55+, 65+,
Jr men: 10-12;13-14;15-16;17-18

Women: 1-2, 3, 4, 35+, 45+,
Jr women:10-12;13-14;15-16;17-18

There will be a club category which is tabulated by adding up all the points earned by all the members of a club.

If you are a promoter of a race in New England and would like to be a part of the NEBRA Ranking System please contact Jon Lowenstein at [email protected]. Do not assume that your event is automatically a part of the NEBRA Ranking System.

The NEBRA Ranking system will track both individual racers whose licensed address is within one of the New England states and clubs that are USAC Clubs located within New England. There will only be one ranking for clubs. Each Club point total shall be the sum of all points from riders from that Club across all the categories. It is very important that when club members register for a race in the NEBRA Ranking System that they use the correct club name (the name that is registered with USA Cycling).

Each week the individual rider rankings will be updated on the NE-BRA.ORG website and the club rankings will be updated each month.

At the conclusion of the season the final results of the individual and club rankings will be recognized at the NEBRA Annual Banquet (location and date yet to be determined).

It is important to note that NOT all categories will be offered at each of the NEBRA Ranking System races. The most current list is below. Riders should not assume that because a race is part of the NEBRA Ranking System that their individual racing category will be available. Please confirm each race’s flyer before attending.
