This is a night of open roller racing. Anyone with a valid USCF license can compete (one-day licenses will also be available for a fee).
The rollers used are the Barelli Quadrulet Competition Rollers with Dial Face, provided by Bike Works NYC. Pictures of them can be seen at http://www.bikecult.com/works/rollers.html. Four sets of rollers are hooked up to a giant dial face, and each lap of the dial equals 500 meters.
The format is traditional four-up sprint heats over a two-lap course, totalling 1,000 meters. Seeding will be made by the results of 500-meter time trials at the start of the evening. It’s a good idea to get to the site by 7pm so you can have a warm-up by the start time.
USCF Roller Race regulations will be in effect. The USCF roller racing gear limit is 7.69 meters development. For 700c clinchers or 27" tubulars, or 25-foot.3-inch rollout distance. We will have rollout on site. For those unfamiliar with gear development, read either the USCF rulebook or find the gear chart on www.bikecult.com.
The Curry/McWhinney studio is the top floor of 211 West 28th Street in Manhattan. Take the elevator up. The studio is located between 7th and 8th avenues and is close to 1, 2 , 3, 9, A, B, C, D, E, and F subway lines. There will be bike parking in the studio.
