Thanks to NEBRA from Union Velo Club Wednesday, November 17, 2004
On behalf of Union Velo Club, I wanted to take a minute to extend our sincere thanks to NEBRA for your efforts through the 2004 cycling season. Upon reading your recent news letter, it reminded us of some of the benefit you provided to us as cyclists, as well as the generous grant provided to Union Velo Club for our junior development program. I would just like to highlight some of the activities the grant was used for.
Union Velo Club currently has 5 junior cyclists participating in USAC events in mountain biking, road racing, and cyclocross. Portions of the NEBRA grant were used to hold a juniors road racing clinic and training race coached by Mark McCormack which we had over 20 junior participants. We were also fortunate enough to send 2 juniors to the mountain bike national championship in California. Other portions of the grant also went to subsidizing juniors racing in selected USAC events.
Our current roster of juniors includes:
We applaud them for their efforts during a successful first season.
The mission of Union Velo Club continues to be support of grass roots cycling and to encourage cyclists of all ages and abilities. Our plan for the 2005 season will be to continue our junior development program and try to at least double our junior membership. We also plan on continuing our masters racing program which we found to be very successful in our first year.
Thank you again on behalf of Union Velo and have a safe and happy holiday season.
