HUDSON VALLEY RACE WEEKEND ANNOUNCES $11,000 PRIZE LIST
The annual Hudson Valley Race Weekend will be held on July 17 and 18, 2004 in the Poughkeepsie, New York area and will feature an $11,000 prize list for the weekend.
On Saturday July 17, the “Main Event” criterium will be held in downtown Poughkeepsie on the same course used in 2003- a flat, 6 corner, 9/10ths of a mile course. The criterium prize list is $7500 including many cash and merchandise primes. Races are offered for all USCF categories as well as Masters 35+, 45+, and 55+. There will also be a junior 10-14 race which is part of the Lance Armstrong Junior Olympic Racing series as well as fun races for children under 10. The women’s races are part of the Aquafina New York State women’s category 3/4 racing series and the Serotta Elite women’s racing series. The master’s races are part of the Masters Cycle Racing Association series and the event is also part of the Maxxis Upstate New York Cycling Cup.
Following the criterium, there will be hot-air balloon lift offs, a carnival, live bands and fireworks. These are all part of the “Main Event” festivities sponsored by the Poughkeepsie Area Chamber of Commerce. On Sunday July 18, the 5th annual Union Vale Road Race will be held in nearby Union Vale, NY. This event features a $3500 prize list and offers races for all USCF categories and Masters 30+, 40+, and 50+. Races range from 30 to 72 miles and feature a 14 mile rolling rural race course. Following the completion of each field’s laps, the racers will head up a challenging 1.4 mile finishing climb to the finish line at the top of “Blueberry Hill”. These races are also part of the Aquafina New York State category 3/4 women’s series, the Serotta Elite women’s series and the Masters Cycle Racing Association series.
