Testimony of the importance of wearing helmets
Wednesday, April 28, 2004

Hi Diane,

don’t know if you remember me, I am with the Exposition Wheelmen Club in Manchester, CT. We met last year during our Aircraft Crit race. Well anyway, I was just wondering if there was a way to send out a quick note on the NEBRA site about helmet use. I was unlucky enough to get caught in the high speed crash this weekend at Monson during the Cat 3/4 race and ended up destroying my front wheel and hitting my head hard enough to crack my helmet in three different places, I feel as though I was in a car crash, but am generally ok. I truly believe my helmet saved me from very serious injury and wanted to send out this note as a reminder to everyone to wear their helmets even during training rides. In my area, all to often I see many people on some other clubs riding without their helmets on and some of these guys are pretty young. I just don’t want any of them regretting not wearing their helmet if they get into any type of trouble while riding, these things work and I can now attest to it first hand.

Thanks, hope to see you at some of the races. Hope everything is going well.

Massimiliano Accaputo, CTS
