Wells Ave Training Series – Take Notice

the tradition continues. Boston Road Club (BRC) will
once again host the Wells Avenue Training series, following the same ABC
format we have in past years. Chris Harnish ([email protected]) is
on-board for a second season as race director. HGe will be running the races
every week and should be your primary source for questions. We’ll get the
BRC website (www.bostonroadclub.com) updated with the detailed 2004
information and also keep the hotline (781 646 8955) fresh.

There is one new item that everyone should be aware of. The Wells Ave office
park has a new tenant, Exxcel Gymnastics. This facility caters to up and
coming gymnasts throughout the week and holds birthday parties Sunday
mornings. Cyclists that have been training at Wells over the past few
weekends will have undoubtedly noticed lots of cars parked on the street we
use for the finishing straight. We’re working with the gym management to
have their visitors park in parking lots rather than on the street, but we
will have to be extra careful this year. Customers visiting Exxcel to attend
a Sunday morning kids birthday party will not be "Wells Ave regulars" like
the health club members or NECN. They’ll be surprised by our races and,
being newbies with little kids, will also be easily offended by public
urination, rudeness, swearing, dangerous riding around cars, etc. If Exxcel
recieves complaints from their customers I would expect them to assert their
position as a paying tenant of the office park to shut us down. I know I
would if it were my business.

We will post "No Parking" signs on that street area and put a marshall at
Exxcel, but we also need all racers to be polite, safe, and friendly. Also,
do not park in the Exxcel lot. Those spaces are for Exxcel customers.
