Colorado Springs, Colo. (July 16, 2008)—Attention all road race promoters: Bid applications for the 2009 USA Cycling National Racing Calendar (NRC) are now available for download from the USA Cycling website at:
www.usacycling.org/forms/nrc/2009NRCBidApp.pdf.
Any promoter who wishes to be a part of the 2009 NRC can submit bids through September 15.
Entering its 13th season in 2009, the NRC represents the most prestigious collection of competitive road cycling events in the United States for professional and amateur cyclists. The calendar has long been recognized by the cycling community as the premier domestic-based Pro-Am series which determines the best individual cyclists and teams who compete throughout the United States. Typically occurring from March through September, the 2008 NRC featured 35 events with an overall prize list of more than $1.1 million.
After receiving valuable feedback from Local Associations, teams and current and past NRC race promoters, USA Cycling launched the 2009 bid process considerably earlier this year in an effort to allow for a comprehensive and collaborative evaluation process for all bids. As the demand to be a part of the NRC continues to grow, open dialogue between promoters and USA Cycling throughout the bid process helps maintain the calendar’s quality, integrity and prestige. USA Cycling believes the longer application process will result in a more in-depth assessment of bids and ultimately a better stage on which to feature competitive men’s and women’s road cycling in America.
Race promoters who wish to be considered for a spot on the 2009 NRC should
download a bid application and submit it to USA Cycling National Events Manager Tom Vinson at
[email protected]. The final 2009 NRC will be announced in early October.
